A Wiccan, pagan, Celtic Greenman themed DIY Book of Shadows book binding and cross stitch pattern project. You will download the pdf tutorial and instructions for how to make a special journal to record your personal rituals and spells. Includes cross stitch patterns for the front, spine, and back of the book which features The Greenman, decorative lettering, and a Celtic knot tree. The finished book measures approximately 4 3/4" x 5 3/4" inches.
IMPORTANT: if you are also stitching our Brews and Potions book, please be aware that Green Man is designed to be stitched on 14 stitches per inch fabric where Brews and Potions is designed for 20 stitches per inch fabric. This is because I designed Brews and potions years ago when I could stitch on smaller fabric, but by the time I designed Green Man, my eyes could only handle 14 stitches per inch. The two books will be the same size as each other only if Green Man is stitched on 14 stitches per inch, and Brews and Potions is stitched on 20 stitches per inch.
You will download PDF files of the cross stitch charts and a 10 page step by step tutorial (with lots of pictures) to show you how to mount and bind the finished cross stitch into this handmade book. You will also receive the PDF file for printing the inside cover pentagram motif. These files will be available for download after cleared payment. Your cross stitch charts will include suggested floss colors and will be in represented in symbols over colors. Regular full cross stitches, 3/4 stitches, back stitches, and a couple French knots are required for this project.
Materials necessary for this book binding project using 14ct aida/28ct linen include:
-cardboard (or preferably mat board or thick chip board)
- 9” x 13” inch (or larger) piece of 28 ct. linen or
14 ct. cross stitch fabric
-16 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11” inch paper (will become 124 pg. book)
- ruler, craft knife, thick white glue (I prefer Aileen’s Tacky Glue).
-Twine or strong, thick thread, an awl (or a hammer and nail works), thin cotton batting or wadding
-2 sheets of card stock (to print the digital inner paper file on) or your choice of heavy weight paper

This is for the DIY patterns and tutorial only, not the finished project!
Have fun and happy stitching!
